Blades of the Guardians, a popular Chinese comic work that has received recognition in Japan, has been adapted into an animated series and will be released on Tencent Video on June 1.
Set during the turbulence of the Sui Dynasty (581-618), Blades of the Guardians centers on Dao Ma, a martial artist who takes on dangerous missions to capture wanted criminals, or escort and protect clients, in order to earn enough money to pay off a debt.
Alongside another two animated series, Full-time Magister and Shrouding the Heavens, Blades of the Guardians held an advanced screening at the Communication University of China in eastern Beijing on Tuesday.
Creators of Blades of the Guardians attended the promotional event at the Communication University of China on May 9.
Deng Zhiwei, the director of Blades of the Guardians, said they have collected the sounds created by sandstorms to ensure that the background sounds in scenes featuring the protagonist's fights in the desert are authentic and true to life.
Xu Xianzhe, author of the original comic work, said the tale represents everything in his life from his 20s to 30s, and he has incorporated all the coolest things he experienced during that phase into the work.
