On the occasion of French President Macron's state visit to China, the launch of the Sino-French documentary video co-production was held in Beijing on April 4. At the launch event, five Sino-French documentary films, including "Golden Monkeys – Braving the Impossible" and "Beyond the Far Side", were presented for the first time.

The Director of CCTV, Mr. Shen Haixiong, said that 2024 will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China and the Paris Olympic Games, among other important opportunities. CCTV is willing to further deepen cooperation with French counterparts such as France National Television Group to produce more excellent documentary video works while covering the Paris Olympics together, so as to promote the continuous development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France.

Hosted by the famous French physicist Christophe Jaafar, the documentary " Beyond the Far Side" tells the story of the development of Chinese spaceflight and the global significance of China's lunar exploration project through interviews with Chinese scientists and their counterparts around the world.

Fan Penglai, scientific advisor of the documentary "Golden Monkeys – Braving the Impossible", introduces the significance of the film for an in-depth understanding of biodiversity conservation in China, from the perspective of the conservation and research of the Sichuan golden monkey. The film is a joint effort with the world's leading wildlife filming team to track the survival and reproduction of two families of golden snub-nosed monkeys in the Shennongjia area of China, preserving a valuable archive of images of historical and scientific value of the animals' national treasures, and thus focusing on the achievements related to China's natural ecology and wildlife conservation work.

The two documentaries premiered on CCTV-9 on 5 April and 6 April respectively, and were simultaneously broadcast on mainstream television stations in France, Germany, Japan and Italy.
