The first HIIFF Talents Training Camp (“青椰计划”) is organized by the China Hainan Island International Film Festival to recruit young filmmakers and their short film projects to be filmed in Hainan, and to encourage creators to create short films in any way they like.

The overall activities of the program include evaluation and selection, roadshow, filming and production of the selected projects, and screening activities during the festival. On the basis of the short film project evaluation, the festival will invite senior film creators to serve as creative mentors, organize mentor workshops, Hainan research and study activities, etc., through the final review of the eight short film projects selected to provide 120,000 yuan each of the financial support and industry resources to support the eventual realization of the eight short films into the ground. The results of the program will continue to be screened and exchanged, and creators selected for the camp will receive festival honors and priority for subsequent participation in festival activities.

Eligibility

1. The project must be a short film (15-20 minutes in length) that has not yet started production;

2. At least one of the main creators (director, screenwriter, producer) of the short film must be of Chinese nationality, and the main language of dialog must be Chinese;

3. The short film must have a regular director and producer, and the director and producer must have completed at least one short film.

Application Materials

(i) Mandatory materials:

1. Story synopsis and director's exposition;

2. Complete short film script;

3. Director's resume and works, producer's resume and works (please attach the link in the file when submitting the film works);

(ii) Selected materials:

1. Project plan (including other creators' resumes and works, production planning, visual references and other information);

2. Other related materials.

2. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to prohibit the entry of any work that does not comply with China's national laws and cultural policies.

3. Entry fee:

July 10, 2024-August 5, 2024: Early Bird price of RMB 100 per project;

August 6, 2024 - September 6, 2024: Regular price of RMB 200 per project.
