The second season of documentary series The Potala Palace, streamed on multiple platforms, including Migu Video, from Feb 16.
Consisting of seven episodes, the new season explores different aspects of the palace — such as its architecture, artifacts, and artistic heritage — to give viewers a look at this UNESCO World Heritage site in Lhasa, Xizang autonomous region.
Wang Chongxiao, chief director and scriptwriter, said he hopes the documentary will take the audience on a deep dive into yet-to-be-opened areas of the palace, allowing them to experience the cultural essence of this treasure of civilization.
The director said that in the past, many outsiders described the palace as "mysterious", as if the building, which is 3,700 meters above sea level, was distant to ordinary people.
"But after visiting Xizang many times myself and spending a long time filming this documentary — with the opportunity to enter the palace every day — I feel that it has a deep connection with local residents. We want to tell more stories about it from the perspective of ordinary individuals, and bring the palace closer to a younger audience," said Wang.
A-list actress Zhao Liying, known for the runaway hit Princess Agents, narrates the second season.
